There are three (3) types of categories defined in Etech RU. These include: -

Parent categories are those immediately above the categories in the hierarchy. For example, ALP is the parent category.

The main category is defined under the parent category in the hierarchy. For example, ALP is the parent category and AL & AL Plus is the main category.

There are two ways where the authorized user can create or add a new category on the Etech RU Platform mentioned below:
Option 1:

- 2. Click on Site Administration
- 3. On the site administration page, click on Courses, then select Add a category.
Option 2:
- 1. Select Menu
- 2. Click on Site Administration from menu drop-down menu
- 3. On the site administration page, click on Courses displayed on the menu.
- 4. Click on the Manage courses and categories option, then click on Create new category button.

Q15. How to create a sub-category?
To create a sub-category in Etech RU, a user can follow mentioned below steps:
- Click on Menu, then select Site Administration.
- On the site administration page, click on Courses displayed on the menu.
- Click on the Manage course and categories option.
- Select the category displayed under the course categories list.
- Besides the selected category, click on the Settings drop-down menu
- Click on Create a new sub-category.

Q16. Can a user edit the created category or sub-category?
Yes. To edit the created category or sub-category, a user can follow mentioned below steps:
- Click on Menu, then select the Site Administration option.
- On the site administration page, click on the Courses option displayed on the menu.
- Under the option of the course, click on the Manage courses and categories option.
- Select the category or sub-category displayed under the course categories list.
- Click on the Settings drop-down menu displayed beside the selected category or sub-category.
- Click on the Edit option, to edit the selected category or sub-category.

The created sub-categories can be sorted in different ways mentioned below:
- Sort sub-categories by Category name ascending.
- Sort sub-categories by Category name descending.
- Sort sub-categories by Category ID number ascending.
- Sort sub-categories by Category ID number descending.

Q18. Can the user change the parent category while adding or editing the category
Yes. Etech RU Platform allows users to change the parent category, on Add New Category page or Edit Category Settings page the Parent Category field is available. Below the parent category field, the Search drop-down menu is displayed. Clicking on the search drop-down field, the list of created categories and sub-categories will be displayed where the user can select the desired category from the list and can change the parent category.

Q19. What is the category ID number?
On Add New Category page or on the Edit Category settings page, the Category ID Number field is displayed. The ID number of a course category is only used when matching the category against the external systems and is not displayed anywhere on the site. If the category has an official code name it may be entered, otherwise, the field can be left blank.

Q20. Can the user keep the same category ID number while creating or editing the category?
No. On Add New Category page or Edit Category Settings page, if the category "ID number is already assigned to another category", then the system will display the error “ID number is already used for another category” and the user can either change the category ID number or can keep it blank while creating or editing the category.

Q21. Can the user add a new course for the selected category?
Yes. There are different ways where the user can add a new course for the selected category on the Etech RU Platform mentioned below:
Option 1:
- 1. Click on Menu, then select the Site Administration option.
- 2. On the site administration page, click on Courses displayed on the menu.
- 3. Then click on Add a new course.
Option 2:
- 1. Click on Menu, then select the Site Administration option.
- 2. On the site administration page, click on the Courses option displayed on the menu, then select the Manage courses and categories option.
- 3. Click on the settings drop-down menu displayed beside the category.
- 4. Click on the View option, then select Add a new course.
Option 3:
- 1. Click on Profile, then select the Course Categories option.
- 2. Select any course categories, then click onAdd a new course.

Q22. How to edit any created course?
The Etech RU platform allows the user to edit the created course, a user can follow the mentioned below steps to edit the course:
Option 1:
- 1. Select Menu, then click on Site Administration
- 2. Click on Courses, then select Manage Courses and Categories
- 3. Click on Created Category
- 4. Scrolling down on the page list of courses will be displayed, besides created course click on the Edit button
- 5. The user will be directed to the Edit Course Settings page.
Option 2:
- 1. Select Profile, then click on Course Categories
- 2. Click on the View all courses option displayed on course categories.
- 3. Click on the Preview Course option displayed on the created courses.
- 4. Click on the Settings option displayed on the course content page menu.

Q23. Where is the course full name displayed?
The course full name field is displayed on Add a new course page or Edit Course Settings page. The full name of the course is displayed at the top of each page in the course and in the list of courses. It is the mandatory field that the user needs to enter while adding or editing any course.

Q24. Why does the user need to add a course short name while adding or editing the course?
The short name of the course is displayed in the navigation as well as it is used as the course subject line while sending the email about the course. The course short name field will be available while adding or editing the course on Add a new course page or Edit Course Settings page respectively.

Q25. Is it possible to change the course category while creating or updating the course?
Yes. To change the course category, a user can click on the search drop-down list displayed under the course category field, on Add a new course page, or Edit Course Settings page while creating or updating the course respectively. Here the list of created categories and sub-categories will be available, then the user can select the desired category displayed in the list and the course category will be changed.

Q26. What is the use of the course visibility field while creating or editing the course?
The course visibility field determines whether the course appears in the list of courses and whether students can access it. If set to Hide, then access is restricted to users with the capability to view hidden courses (such as teachers). The course visibility field will be displayed while adding or editing the course on Add a new course page, or the Edit course settings page respectively.

The course end date field is displayed on Add a new course page, or on the Edit course settings page while adding or editing the course respectively. The user can select a specific end date to complete the course. Moreover, the user can also set a specific time for course completion.

Q28. Is the course end date mandatory to be added while creating or editing any course?
No, it is not mandatory to add the course end date while creating or editing any course. The user can disable the course end date and time, by clicking on enable checkbox displayed beside the course end date field. The course end date field will be displayed while adding or editing the course on Add a new course page or Edit course settings page respectively.

On Add a new course page or Edit course settings page, the Course ID Number field will be displayed. The ID number of a course is only used when matching the course against external systems and is not displayed anywhere on the site. Q32. Which user role has the access to add the additional image file type or to upload more than one image file?
The site administrator has the access to add the additional accepted image file type or to upload more than one image file. If the site administrator provides the access to upload more than one image file, then additional files will be displayed next to the course summary on the list of courses page.

Q33. What a user can do if the system prompts an error message while uploading the image file under the course image field?
Whenever a user tries to upload an image file of a specific format that is either not supported by the platform, or the site administrator has not provided access, the system will give a prompt message. Further, the Etech RU platform will only accept the file types below mentioned formats: -
- Image (GIF) .gif
- Image (JPEG) .jpg
- Image (PNG) .png

Q34. What is the maximum course image size that a user can upload?
600 x 400 pixels is the maximum image size that can be uploaded by the user.

Q35. Can the user change the author’s name while uploading the course image?
Yes. The user can change the author’s name while uploading the course image. On Add a new course page or Edit course settings page the course image field is available. After clicking on add button, the file picker pop-up window will be displayed, and the user can change the author by entering the author’s name in the author textbox.

Q36. After uploading the course image, can I update, delete, or change the course image?
Yes. The Etech platform allows the user to update, delete, or change the uploaded course image on the add a new course page, or the edit course settings page.

Q37. Can I provide the specific layout of the course page?
Yes. The user can provide the specific layout of the course page. On the add a new course page or edit course settings page, the course format section determines the layout of the course page. Here, the user can select a different layout, for the course page. Following are the list of formats that user can use for the course page layout:
- • Topics Format: The layout of the course page will be organized into topic sections.
- • Single Activity Format: This is used to display a single activity or resource (such as Quiz or SCORM package) on the course page.
- • Social Format: This is used to display a forum on the course page.
- • Weekly Format: The course page is organized into weekly sections, with the first week starting on the course start date.
- • Tiles Format: The layout of the course page will be showing courses in the tiles format where each progress of each tile can be displayed, and filter bar outcomes will be displayed in various formats.

Q38. Who has the access to determine the colors for tiles?
The available colors are determined by the site administrator through the Tile plugin settings page. The colors for tiles field is displayed under the course format section on Add a new course page or Edit course settings page. The color set will be applied to all tiles in the course.

Q39. Can the user view the progress activities on each tile?
Yes. The Etech RU platform allows the user to select the progress on each tile under the course format section on
Add a new course page or
Edit course settings page. The progress on each tile has two options mentioned below which the user can select:
- • Show as fraction: The progress of the activity completed will be displayed in fractions. For example, “Progress 2/10” means 2 out of 10 activities are completed.
- • Show as % in circle: The progress of the activity completed will be displayed as a percentage in a circle.
Please Note: “Progress on each tile” can only be used if ‘Completion > Enable completion tracking’ has been switched on. If there are no trackable activities within a given tile, the indicator will not be shown for that tile.

Q40. Is it possible to hide the activity completion progress that is displayed on each tile?
Yes. The Etech RU platform provides the option to hide the activity completion progress displayed on each tile, a user can select the hide option from progress on each tile drop-down list displayed under the course format section on add a new course or edit course settings page.

Q41. How can the user add the course content under created courses?
To add the course content for created courses, the user can follow the below steps:
- Click on Profile.
- From the profile drop-down menu, click on Course Categories.
- The list of course categories will be displayed, select the course category, and click on the View all courses option.
- The list of created courses will be displayed, select the course, and click on the Preview Course option.
- The user will be directed to the course content page and then click on the Turn editing on button to add the course content for the created course.

On the course content page, by clicking on the edit button displayed beside the tile, the user will be able to add or edit the tile name. The tile name textbox will be displayed where the user can enter the desired tile name. After entering the name in the tile textbox, press the enter key to update the tile name.

On the course content page, besides the tile name, the edit drop-down list is available. Clicking on the Hide Tile option, the selected tile will be hidden from the students. To show the hidden tile to students, click on the Show Tile option displayed under the edit drop-down list.

- The user will be directed to the course content page, and click on the Turn editing on button.
- Click the Add an Activity or Resource button under the tile section.
- Add an activity or resource pop-up window will be opened, then click on the SCORM Package option.

The activity completion section is displayed on adding a new SCORM package page or adding a new interactive content page. When this section is enabled, then activity completion can be tracked either manually or automatically based on certain or multiple conditions.

Q56. While uploading the backup file the system prompts an error message?
Whenever a user tries to upload a backup file of a specific format that is not supported by the platform, the system will give a prompt message. Further, the Etech RU platform will only accept the .mbz file format and 1.5 GB is the maximum file size that can be uploaded.

Q57. Can the user provide the specific course date and time to start the course?
Yes. On Add a new course page or on the Edit course settings page, under the course start date field, the user can select the specific course start date and time. As per the set course start date and time, the course will be displayed on the website for the students.
